In theory, Greensleeves combines the sweet flavor inherited from its Golden Delicious parent with the balancing acidity from its other parent, James Grieve. Although it may be initially hard and sharp early in the season, it tends to mellow as time progresses. However, it never quite reaches the flavor profile one might expect based on its parentage.
As depicted in the photo, Greensleeves takes on a delightful golden yellow hue if left on the tree through October.
May be susceptible to aphids, including woolly aphid and rosy apple aphid, fruit tree red spider mite, codling moth and other caterpillars
Apples are one of the hardiest and easiest fruit trees to grow, but even so, certain diseases, insects, birds and weather conditions can damage the trees, blossom or fruit. So check apple trees regularly and take prompt action if necessary.
"Frost resistance of blossom: Good resistance Climate suitability: Temperate climates Summer average maximum temperatures: Cool ( 20-24C / 68-75F) Cold hardiness (RHS): H6 (to -20C) Summer average maximum temperatures: Cold (< 20C / 67F)"
